A spur gear is a common toothed wheel that works with other wheels in a set to adjust the speed, power, or direction of a complex machine. It's found in many everyday devices, such as electric screwdrivers, washing machines, and mechanical clocks and watches. In this project, you will digitally model and 3D-print an external spur gear, which has teeth that point outward from the center of a cylindrical disk. You'll model the spur gear in a solid modeling program, analyze it for printability, and print it on a 3D printer with slicing software. No prior experience with these programs is needed to complete this project.
