Cruise ships have been in the news during the last several years because of a variety of mishaps, including mechanical failures causing nightmarish cruise experiences and ships running aground leading to passenger deaths. Another cruise ship hazard has been publicized as well: outbreaks of diarrhea and vomiting caused by norovirus, which is known as the “cruise ship” virus.
