On December 3, 1999, a tragedy occurred in Worcester, Massachusetts, at a fire in a large aging brick warehouse, the former Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse Co. building. What at first seemed like a routine response situation by the Worcester Fire Department turned out to be a deadly incident resulting in six firefighters losing their lives when they became disoriented and lost in the complex structure.
