Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-roadside (V2R) communication allow both passenger safety and driving comfort to be improved significantly. For example, V2V communication could allow a vehicle detecting an icy road to inform following vehicles and thereby prevent accidents. Similarly, V2R communication could be used near construction sites to warn vehicle drivers about a reduced number of lanes or to give advice for an alternative route. For improved traffic efficiency, vehicles could exchange the latest traffic flow information.
