A combination of one or more metals or nonmetals with nickel to produce a solid-solution or, in some cases, a nonmetallic and/or intermetallic compound. In some alloys, particulate forms of nonmetallic or intermetallic compounds are added to pure nickel or a nickel-based solid-solution phase as dispersoids.
