Preparing a colored photograph for commercial printing requires converting it into color separations corresponding to the percentages of cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK) ink needed in each part of the image. To optimize printed quality, the CMYK separations then have to be adjusted by a process known as “color correction,” which traditionally involved altering the CMYK values on the printing plates or the files from which they were made. Recent technology advancements have enabled a more powerful color correction workflow in which images are edited in units of RGB light instead of CMYK inks. The RGB workflow has revolutionized printing, with numerous benefits for printers and print buyers alike.
