The year 2009 was a busy and successful one in space. The space shuttle program conducted five successful missions, including four to the International Space Station (ISS) and one to repair and refurbish the Hubble Space Telescope. The ISS was also extended to a six-person crew for part of the year. Exciting new discoveries were made in finding methane on Mars and water on the Earth's Moon.
