Forward operating bases (FOBs) are transitory facilities used by the various armed forces of the United States and its allies to provide secure bases of operations for military missions in overseas environments. FOBs can be and are used by all the military services, but given the nature of their missions, the Army and the Marine Corps use these facilities the most.
