A lung condition that is characterized by limitation of airflow from the lungs and manifests with shortness of breath, cough, and sputum production. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a significant cause of disease and death. COPD is the fourth leading cause of death worldwide. In the United States alone, COPD was responsible for an estimated 157,000 deaths in 2019.
