A chemical element, F, atomic number 9, atomic weight 18.998. Fluorine, a Group 17 element, is the member of the halogen family that has the lowest atomic number and atomic weight. Although only the isotope with atomic weight 19 is stable, the other, radioactive isotopes between atomic weight 17 and 22 have been artificially prepared.
